Men’s Golf Places Sixth at Battle at Rum Pointe

Lacayo led the Pioneers in a tie for fourth place
BERLIN, Md. – The Pioneers climbed three spots on the final leaderboard at the Battle at Rum Pointe, hosted by Iona at the Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links in Berlin, Md., to finish in sixth place in the 16-team field.
SHU finished the 36-hole event with a score of 600 (+24), carding a 10-over 298 today. Iona claimed the win at +2, while Iona was not far behind at +5.
Pablo Lacayo remained at the top of the leaderboard for SHU, tying for fourth place. Lacayo carded one of seven rounds today of even par or better with a 72 today, finishing the tournament with a score of 145 (+1).
Mike Rothberg placed next for the Pioneers in T15th after shooting three-over 75 today. The senior carded a one-over 73 on Friday to finish with a 148 (+4).
Ronan Mooney saw a 13-spot improvement after round one, going from T57th to T44th with a second-round 75 (+3), giving him a score of 153 (+9) for the tournament.
Sho Suzuki, Quin Adams and Jon Bushka concluded SHU's competitors this weekend. Suzuki rose to T59th on the final leaderboard, while Adams and Bushka tied for 70th.
SHU next heads to the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge on Monday-Wednesday, April 6-8, at the True Blue Golf Club in Pawley's Island, S.C.
