Paulerena tied for second after round one
GRASONVILLE, Md. – The Sacred Heart University women's golf team came out firing at the Intercollegiate at Prospect Bay, placing in a tie for first after the opening round at the Prospect Bay Golf Club in Grasonville, Md.
Nahia Paulerena leads the way for SHU in a tie for second place after carding an opening-round 75 (+3). The sophomore birdied the fourth and 11th holes, while paring 11 holes.
The Pioneers finished with a team score of 310 (+22), matching Penn after the first round. Dartmouth is not far behind in third place with a mark of +24. SHU leads MAAC foes Fairfield (+33), Iona (+66) and Niagara (+67).
Maite Cantu and Maegan Pungsuwan are also in the top 10 after round one in T6th and T8th, respectively. Cantu carded a five-over 77, while Pungsuwan owns a six-over 78.
Jessie Burch and Garance Gueubel also sit one stroke apart, at 80 (+8) and 81 (+9), respectively. Burch is tied for 15th and Gueubel is tied for 22nd.
Rounding out SHU's competitors is Jade Haylock in a tie for 48th.
SHU concludes the Intercollegiate at Prospect Bay tomorrow morning.
