EDISON, N.J. — The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced its postseason awards Wednesday morning ahead of the 2026 MAAC Championship Tournament in Atlantic City. Sacred Heart University men's basketball had two student-athletes earn All-MAAC recognition.
Senior forward Anquan Hill was named First Team All-MAAC, while senior guard Dashon Gittens garnered Third Team honors.
Hill collects his second career All-MAAC accolade after earning Third Team honors a season ago. The senior leads the Pioneers in scoring at 17.5 points per game, third in the MAAC, and tops the team in rebounding at 6.4 per contest, ranking 10th in the league. Hill has reached double figures in 22 of 25 games this season and recorded four double-doubles. The Philadelphia, Pa., native poured in a career-high 34 points against Central Connecticut State on Nov. 24 and became one of three 1,000-point scorers on the roster when he surpassed the milestone at Marist on Feb. 22.
Gittens earns his first All-MAAC honor and his first postseason recognition since being named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team during his rookie campaign at FIU. The senior ranks second on the team and 12th in the MAAC in scoring (14.1 ppg), while also sitting second in rebounds (5.8) and assists (2.7). He leads Sacred Heart with 1.6 steals per game. Gittens has scored in double figures in 26 of 30 contests and posted five double-doubles this season. He registered a career-high 26 points against Dartmouth on Dec. 19 and reached the 1,000-point milestone on Jan. 24 in SHU's home victory over Niagara.
The MAAC also announced its All-Academic Team, with Malik Sheppard, Jaden Slaughter, and Alex Woodring earning recognition. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed two semesters at their institution and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Sacred Heart will make its second consecutive appearance in the MAAC Championships in just its second year in the league. The ninth-seeded Pioneers will face No. 8 Iona on Thursday, March 5, at 6 p.m. at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
