Women’s Golf Stays in 13th at Rutgers Invite

The event is SHU’s last one before the MAAC Championship
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University golf team wrapped up play at the Rutgers Invitational on Sunday, finishing in 13th at the Rutgers University Golf Course in Piscataway, N.J.
The Pioneers stayed in 13th place today, capping the event with a 324 (+40), the team's best round of the event. SHU went 326, 329 and 324 for a combined score of 979 (+127), nine strokes behind T11th BU and Lehigh. Rutgers claimed the win at their home event with a final score of +44.
Jessie Burch continued to lead the way for SHU, finishing 19th with a combined score of 233 (+20). The senior was consistent at the event, carding two 78's and one 77.
Nahia Paulerena, Maegan Pungsuwan and Maite Cantu all remained close to one another in the standings, finishing just two strokes apart. Paulerena led the group in a tie for 64th with a final score of 249 (+36). Pungsuwan was next in T66th with 250 (+37), while Cantu climbed seven spots on the leaderboard to T68th with a 251 (+38).
Garance Gueubel rounded out the Pios golfers in a tie for 80th.
The Pioneers next head to the MAAC Championship at Disney's Magnolia Course in Bay Lake, Fla. The event will run from Tuesday-Thursday, April 21-23.
