Paulerena paces SHU in T7th place
BAY LAKE, Fla. – Following the first round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, the Sacred Heart University women's golf team sits in fourth place in the 10-team field at Disney's Magnolia Course in Bay Lake, Fla.
The Pioneers own a team score of 310 (+22) to sit in fourth, four strokes behind third-place UAlbany (+18). Quinnipiac paces the field at +11, while Fairfield is a close second at +13.
Nahia Paulerena leads the way for the Pioneers in a tie for seventh place after an opening round 76 (+4). The sophomore led the team with 10 pars to go along with two birdies.
Maite Cantu and Jessie Burch are not far behind their teammate, as the pair hit 77 (+5) and 78 (+6), respectively. Cantu is tied for 13th on the leaderboard, while Burch is tied for 17th.
First years Maegan Pungsuwan and Garance Gueubel are next on the leaderboard for SHU in T24th and 29th, respectively. Pungsuwan carded a 79 (+7) and Gueubel an 81 (+9) as the pair completed its first conference championship round.
The MAAC Championship continues with round two tomorrow at Disney's Magnolia Course.
