Lacayo carded the best round of the tournament in round three

GLEN HEAD, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team saw great rounds from a couple of Pioneers to climb to ninth place after 54 holes at the Shark Invitational, hosted by LIU at the Nassau Country Club in Glen Head, N.Y.

SHU finished with a team score of 876 (+36), carding the third-best round of the day on Tuesday. The Pios carded a 285 (+5) today after scores of 295 (+15) and 296 (+16) in the opening two rounds. Northern Colorado and Bryant tied for the tournament lead at +9.

Pablo Lacayo and Mike Rothberg tied for the team lead with a combined score of 214 (+4) to tie for 11th place. Lacayo carded the best round of the tournament, a five-under 65 to climb 35 spots on the final leaderboard. Rothberg carded a second straight 72 (+2) after opening with an even-par 70.

Yu Chan Ji Lim saw a 15-spot improvement today, rising to T46th. The sophomore posted a final score of 224 (+14) after rounds of 78 (+8), 74 (+4) and 72 (+2).

Jon Bushka and Ronan Mooney rounded out the field for SHU in a tie for 68th. The duo finished with identical scores of 229 (+19).

The Pioneers next head to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship on Tuesday, April 28, for a three-day event at Disney's Magnolia Course in Bay Lake, Fla.
