Men's Golf Moves to Second in MAAC Championship after Round Two

Suzuki the best round of the tournament today
BAY LAKE, Fla. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team climbed to second on the team leaderboard after a strong second round at the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, hosted at Disney's Magnolia Course in Bay Lake, Fla.
SHU carded an even-par 288 in today's round, surging past Siena for second place with combined score of 581 (+5). Iona remains in first, six strokes ahead of the Pioneers at -1.
Mike Rothberg remained in the lead for the Pios, sitting at 143 (-1) following rounds of 72 and 71. The senior carded three birdies on both days, tallying one less bogie today for a below-par round. Rothberg is tied for fourth place, five strokes off of medalist pace.
Sho Suzuki had himself a day, climbing 31 spots on the leaderboard to sit in a tie for 11th. The junior carded a five-under 67 today, which stands as the best round of the tournament through two rounds. He owns a combined score of 146 (+2).
Pablo Lacayo is right behind Suzuki in 13th place, sitting with a score of 147 (+3). The senior from Managua, Nicaragua, has been consistent with rounds of 74 and 73.
SHU's final two competitors at the event are Ronan Mooney and Yu Chan Ji Lim. Mooney is tied for 23rd at 151 (+7), while Lim is tied for 27th at 152 (+8).
The championship will be decided tomorrow with the third and final round of the event.
