Lacayo Tied for First After First Round of Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge

SHU ranks 12th as a team
PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Pablo Lacayo is tied for the lead after round one of the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge, hosted at the True Blue Golf Club in Pawley's Island, S.C., as the Sacred Heart University men's golf team is 12th on the team leaderboard.
Lacayo carded an opening-round 69 (-3) to finish in a tie for first in the 90-golfer field. The Managua, Nicaragua, native tallied four birdies on the front nine with no bogies. He then birdied the 10th hole, finishing with holes under par on the day.
The Pioneers finished the round with a team score of 300 (+12) to sit in 12th place out of 16 teams. The team leaderboard is congested, as SHU is just 10 strokes out of tying William & Mary (+2) in third place. UAB paces the field at -4.
Quin Adams is next on the leaderboard for SHU in a tie for 51st. He finished the day with a three-over 73, carding three birdies in the round.
Mike Rothberg and Ronan Mooney placed next for SHU in a tie for 71st. The duo posted identical rounds of 78 (+6).
Sho Suzuki rounded out the Pios' lineup in a tie for 84th after an opening-round 80 (+8).
The Pios continue the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge tomorrow with round two.
