Lacayo Still Leads at Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge

SHU climbs to 11th after two rounds of the tournament
PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Pablo Lacayo continues to lead as the Sacred Heart University men's golf team climbed to 11th on the team leaderboard at the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge, hosted at the True Blue Golf Club in Pawley's Island, S.C.
Lacayo carded a two-under 70 today to remain in a tie for medalist honors, sitting with a combined score of 139 (-5). The Managua, Nicaragua, native carded three birdies and just one bogey, sitting at eight birdies at the event.
As a team, the Pioneers own a score of 589 (+13) after rounds of 300 and 289. SHU trails 10th-place Evansville (+10) by three strokes. UAB added to its lead, sitting five strokes clear of the field at -15.
Mike Rothberg saw the largest improvement for SHU, climbing 24 spots on the leaderboard to sit in a tie for 47th with a combined score of 148 (+4). Rothberg matched Lacayo with a 70 (-2) today, birdieing four holes on the way to a stellar round.
Ronan Mooney rose to T65th after an even-par 72 today. He sits with a score of 150 (+6) after the first two rounds of the tournament.
Rounding out SHU's competitors was Quin Adams and Sho Suzuki in a tie for 85th. Both golfers have a combined score of 157 (+13).
The third and final round of the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge will take place tomorrow morning.
