Men’s Golf Ties for 12th at Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge

Lacayo led the Pios in T8th while Suzuki and Adams saw round three improvements
PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – After three rounds of the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge, the Sacred Heart University men's golf team finished in a tie for 12th place at the True Blue Golf Club in Pawley's Island, S.C.
The Pios ended the event with a team score of 889 (+25) following rounds of 300, 289 and 300. UConn (-15) posted a comeback win, erasing a seven-stroke deficit to defeat UAB (-13) by two strokes.
Pablo Lacayo led the way for the Pioneers for a third consecutive round, finishing in a tie for eighth place. He finished the tournament with a score of 213 (-3), carding a 74 (+2) to conclude the event. He tallied 12 birdies in the 54 holes, hitting at least three in every round.
Mike Rothberg place next for SHU in a tie for 48th. He posted a combined score of 223 (+7), sandwiching a 70 (-2) between rounds of 78 (+6) and 75 (+3).
Ronan Mooney (+14), Sho Suzuki (+16) and Quin Adams (+17) rounded out the Pios' five competitors at the event. Mooney finished in a tie for 73rd, while Suzuki and Adams finished back-to-back in 79th and T80th.
The Pioneers next head to the Shark Invitational, hosted by LIU on April 13-14 at the Nassau Country Club in Glen Head, N.Y.
