Women’s Soccer Looks to Defend Their Title

The season opener is August 12
Fairfield, Conn. – Sacred Heart University women's soccer head coach Matt Micros announced the team's 2026 schedule, which is highlighted by nine home matches and a rematch of the 2025 Metro Conference championship on Saturday, Sept. 5.
The 18-match slate is evenly split with nine home and nine away contests. The season opener is set for Wednesday, Aug. 12, as the Pioneers host Central Connecticut State University.
The non-conference schedule continues on the road with trips to the University of Vermont on Sunday, Aug. 16, and the University of Maine on Sunday, Aug. 23.
The Pioneers return home for a pair of non-conference matchups, beginning with the University of New Haven on Thursday, Aug. 27. Later that week, the Pios welcome Hofstra University on Sunday, Aug. 30.
On Saturday, Sept. 5, the Pioneers will travel to Canisius to begin Metro Conference play with a rematch of the 2025 Metro Conference championship. A week later, the Pios host their first conference match against Marist on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Sacred Heart will then close out non-conference play with a short trip to Yale on Sunday, Sept. 20.
The final 10 matches of the 2026 slate will all be conference contests. The Pioneers will host Saint Peter's (Sept. 23), Siena (Oct. 3), Niagara (Oct. 20), Mount St. Mary's (Oct. 24), and conclude the regular season against the cross-town rival, Fairfield, on Nov. 4.
On the road, Sacred Heart will face Merrimack (Sept. 26), Quinnipiac (Oct. 7), Manhattan (Oct. 17), Rider (Oct. 21), and wrap up the road portion of the schedule against Iona on Oct. 31.
Following the regular season, the Pioneers will head to the Metro Conference Tournament, which is scheduled to begin on Nov. 7 and conclude on Nov. 15
