How it Happened
Following a back-and-forth start, the Pioneers used an 11-point rally to break out to an 18-10 lead and never looked back. Franz and senior Lauren Hubert  led the way in the rally with Franz dropping in three aces and Hubert drilling three kills. Combined in the opening set, the rookie combo of Antonio and Montini finished with seven kills.
The second set featured just one lead change and one tie which came in the early going before a four-point rally with Villarreal on the serve provided a 4-1 lead the Pios would never relinquish. Midway through the match, SHU again rallied, this time taking nine of 10 straight points to open up a double digit lead at 20-10.
Sacred Heart opened up the third set scoring the first three points and despite a pair of ties never relinquished that lead. The two stalemates came late in the set as the Golden Griffins attempted to push the match to a fourth set, however, the Pioneers closed out the sweep with a Montini kill that allowed her to tie Hagedorn for the team lead with 11.
