Purnsley concluded his second season as assistant coach for Sacred Heart football in 2025. He works primarily with running backs.
Purnsley brings a wealth of coaching knowledge to the staff, having spent 23 years on the sidelines. A native of North Carolina, he played collegiately at Catawba College, where he was a wide receiver and quarterback.
He earned a degree in physical education from Catawba in 1990.

- Was part of the 2024 and 2025 Yankee Conference Cup Championship Teams
- Currently coaching Mitchell Summers, who had a breakout rookie campaign and was named Stats Perform FCS Freshman All-American, FCS Football Central All-American, All-New England, and a finalist for the Stats Perform FCS Jerry Rice Award. He was also named Stats Perform FCS National Freshman Player of the Week and received the New England Football Writers Gold Helmet Award Winner of the Week.
