Baseball Falls Short in Comeback vs. Wagner, 5-4

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to Wagner at Veteran's Memorial Park, 5-4 Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Pioneers drop to 10-19 and 5-4 in the NEC, while Wagner improves to 9-18 on the season and 5-4 in NEC-play.

Thomas Pinto got the start and took the loss after giving up three earned runs on four hits in 3.2 innings of work. Anthony Porrino led the SHU offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBI's. Danny Glendon went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk, while Elijah Brown went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base.

  • The Seahawks broke the scoreless tie after posting four runs in the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead

  • Wagner added to its lead after scoring a run in seventh to push its lead to 5-0

  • The Pioneers got on the board in the seventh after Porrino delivered an RBI single to right field to score Brown from third

  • Porrino trimmed the SHU deficit to 5-2 with an RBI single in the eighth

  • Glendon immediately followed with an RBI double to cut the deficit to 5-3

  • With the bases loaded in the ninth, Frasca was hit by a pitch, allowing a run to score to cut the deficit to 5-4
