Baseball Drops Series-Opener vs. Bryant, 14-4

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to NEC-foe Bryant, 14-4 at home Thursday afternoon. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 18-31-1 on the year and 10-12 in NEC-play, while the Bulldogs improve to 37-17 on the season and 18-4 in conference play.

NOTES (Bryant 14, SHU 4):

  • Baylor Sundahl got the start and took the loss after giving up six runs on seven hits and striking out three in four innings of work

  • Justin Levito went 1-for-1 with an RBI double

  • Steven Schoen went 1-for-1 with a two-run homer

  • Danny Glendon, Jake Frasca, Austin Markmann and Trevor Fagan picked up a hit apiece in the loss

  • The Bulldogs got on the board first after pushing two runs home in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead

  • Bryant added four runs in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead

  • The Bulldogs plated four runs in the fifth to make it 10-0

  • Bryant added four runs in the eighth to push its lead to 14-0

  • SHU got on the board after Justin Levito hit lined an RBI double to left in the eighth to cut the deficit to 14-1

  • Matt Sorrento made it 14-2 with an RBI groundout in the eighth

  • Steven Schoen hit a two-run homer to center to cut the deficit to 14-4


The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday, May 17, when the Pioneers play host to Bryant at 1 p.m.
