Nikolas St. Lassonde ’27 joined the Sacred Heart Athletic Communications Team with a background in sports media, athletic leadership, and competitive athletics. He spent four years in the Sports Information Office at Eastern Connecticut State University, working closely with Bob “Bullet” Molta, a 40-year veteran. As a play-by-play broadcaster and secondary media contact, St. Lassonde was heavily involved in the Warriors’ 2022 baseball season, which ended with the program's fifth NCAA Division III National Championship.
St. Lassonde served as team captain and president of the Eastern Connecticut State University Football Club for two years. In that role, he coordinated team activities, organized game-day operations, and worked closely with players, coaches, and officials. His responsibilities included scheduling officials for home games and managing logistics for team events.
St. Lassonde began his collegiate career at Dean College, where he competed in both football and baseball. During his time at Dean, he earned ECFC and GNAC All-Academic honors and was named to the Dean’s List. After transferring to Eastern, he continued to develop his leadership skills while gaining valuable experience in teamwork, communication, and accountability.
As a field goal kicker and punter for Eastern’s club football team, St. Lassonde converted 19 of 23 field goal attempts and 28 of 31 extra-point tries, including 7 of 8 field goals from 45 yards or longer. His season highlights included a 41-yard game-winning field goal at the University of Vermont and a 23-yard game-winner against Clarkson University. As a punter, he averaged 49.5 yards on 61 punts.
In 2023, St. Lassonde was selected by the NCAA to represent Eastern Connecticut State University and the Little East Conference at the College Sport Communicators Convention in Orlando, FL. He was one of only seven students to receive a grant to attend. He was the head of athletic video content for Eastern’s varsity sports teams, managing the production of game highlights and other video content for the department.
As the associate head coach of the Sandlot Sunday youth baseball team in New Fairfield, CT, St. Lassonde helped with the development of young athletes. As a student-assistant coach at Eastern, he guided his JV team to a 29–5–3 record over three seasons.
St. Lassonde interned with the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) in 2023. He helped with game-day operations, scoreboard management, and scoring support, gaining hands-on experience in the media side of sports.
St. Lassonde is a native of Lower Manhattan, New York, and was a two-sport athlete at New Fairfield High School, earning Southwest Conference All-Academic honors in both football and baseball. At Eastern, he was part of the varsity athletics support staff, assisting with coverage and operations across all varsity sports. He received the Shining Star in Sports Media Award from the Eastern Athletic Department and Student-Athletes.
St. Lassonde is pursuing a master’s degree in sport communication at Sacred Heart and plans to pursue a career in college athletics after graduation in the spring.
