SHU Swimming Triumphant over Western CT

Danbury, CT - The Sacred Heart women's swimming team won 11 of the 13 events held on their way to their second dual meet win of the year, a convincing 106-47 win over Western Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers had many highlights on the afternoon that included winning 11 events. Sophomore Malvina Reinhold (Gothenburg, Sweden) won the 200 Free (2:03.54) and the 100 free (:57.34). Junior Lizzy Bennett (Fairbanks, AK) placed first in the 50 Free (:26.52) and the 100 Butterfly (1:02.21) Sophomore Meredith Nyser (Barrington, RI) won the 400 IM (5:00.66) and the 500 Free (5:27.73), Senior Meg Bellamy (Barrington, RI) won the 100 Backstroke (1:05.43), and senior Stephanie Walters (Wanaque, NJ) won the 100 Breaststroke (1:11.58).

The Sacred Heart 200 Medley Relay team of Bellamy, Walters, Bennett, and Farnsworth also took home the gold with a time of 1:56.44, while the SHU 200 Free Relay of Farnsworth, Bellamy, Reinhold, and McGrath closed out the meet in first place with a 1:44.82.
