Lucy joins the Sacred Heart rowing staff in the 26/27 season to head up the lightweight women’s team.
A former lightweight rower herself, at both Newcastle University and Durham University UK, Lucy started her coaching career 15 years ago with Durham School, qualifying the varsity VIII for HRR for the first time in 5 years. Lucy moved to the United States in 2013 as a coach for New Cannon Crew/Maritime Rowing Club in Connecticut where she worked at first with the varsity girls team and then the varsity boys, both teams winning multiple medals at Youth Nationals and HOCR. Whilst at MRC, she also coached the men’s team at Fairfield University, taking the team for the first time ever to the IRA’s. In 2021 Lucy became the associate head coach at Row New York, and 2025 season took time back in the UK to be with family and worked with TURC and DUBC, heading up the high performance sculling camp.
Lucy has worked extensively as a personal trainer and recently completed a UKSCA diploma in strength and conditioning. As an athlete she competed as a lightweight through college and the GB rowing system, medalling at BUCS, nationals, Europeans, WeHORR, she has raced at both Henley regattas and as a lwt was selected to the 1V for NUBC and DUBC each year, winning the VL at BUCS championships with DUBC for two consecutive years, the second as DUBC club president. She has raced internationally and continued to compete in the USA after relocating, until back surgery ended her competitive days. Still loves to go in the single for fun! Her assistant coach, a Jack Russell mix called Dash, is very excited to work with the SHU Lights.
