
MEN'S ICE HOCKEY SKATES TO 3-3 TIE WITH ALABAMA-HUNTSVILLE

MILFORD, CT (December 6, 2002) - The Sacred Heart men's ice hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie with College Hockey America opponent Alabama-Huntsville. Senior Michael Forsland (Anchorage, AK) scored the game-tying goal at 13:16 in the third period.
The Chargers opened the scoring at 6:31 in the first period on a power play goal by Craig Bushey. The Pioneers were down 1-0 at the start of the second. Alabama-Huntsville got on the board first in the period with a goal from Joel Bresciani at 10:40. The Pioneers came back on a power play goal by freshman Rocco Molinaro (Dearborn, MI) at 12:13 with the assists going to sophomore Garrett Larson (Rycroft, AB) and senior Martin Paquet (St. Catherin, QUE).
The third period once again saw the Chargers come out strong and open the scoring. Their power play goal came at 10:37 and was scored by Jared Ross. Pioneer senior captain Richard Naumann (Boerne, TX) netted his first of the season at 12:12, assisted by freshman Bernie Chmiel (Pittsburgh, PA) and junior Chuck Metcalfe (Edmonton, AB). Forsland's game-tying goal was assisted by Larson and sophomore Barclay Folk (Westbank, BC).
Pioneer senior goaltender Eddy Ferhi (Charenton, France) make 32 saves. Charger goaltender Mark Byrne recorded 22 saves.
The Pioneers return to action tomorrow evening, December 7, as they host the Chargers for the rematch at 7:00 pm.
