Teaneck, NJ (September 10, 2002) - Fairleigh Dickinson freshman Nadav Gottesman scored the game winning goal in the 102nd minute of the second overtime to lift the Knights to a 1-0 victory over Sacred Heart. Gottesman booted home a loose ball in front of the net to send FDU home victorious after the Pioneers proved more than a worthy opponent against Northeast Conference favorite.
Defensively, Sacred Heart was led by the outstanding play of freshman goalkeeper Jason Roeder (Independence, MN). Roeder turned away four shots and has now allowed just two goals on the year. The Pioneer defenders clamped down and managed to hold preseason All-American Aaron Paye scoreless on the afternoon.
The Pioneers fall to 0-3 on the year and 0-1 in the NEC while the Knights move to 2-1-1 and 1-0 on the year.
FDU outshot the Pioneers 15-9.
Sacred Heart will return to action on Monday, September 17th when they travel to Holy Cross College for a 4 pm start.
