Softball Win Streak Halted at Six

FAIRFIELD, CT - Fairleigh Dickinson ended Sacred Heart's six-game win streak in the Northeast Conference Wedneday by capturing the second game of their softball doubleheader, 8-3, at Pioneer Park. The Pioneers won the opener, 12-3, behind a 14-hit attack.
The Knights (7-13, 5-9 NEC) snapped a 3-3 tie by exploding for five runs in the seventh inning. Freshman Anneliese Padilla (West Linn, OR) drove in three runs with a pair of hits for FDU, and freshman Kara Morris (Mahwah, NJ) went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.
In the opener, third baseman Pam Vuijst (Soph., Ramsey, NJ) paced the Pioneers with a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, driving in three runs and scoring three times. Michelle Walker (Jr., Paramus, NJ) collected three hits in as many at bats and drove in two runs. Freshman Lauren Lapinski (Clifton Park, NY) limited FDU to five hits and one earned run.
