Sacred Heart Men's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Draw With Stony Brook

FAIRFIELD, CT - Senior Jorge DeSousa (Milford, CT) scored his first goal of the season at the 68:00 minute mark for Sacred Heart University and freshman goalie Chris Marchese (Middletown, CT) made ten saves, helping the Pioneers to a 1-1 draw with visiting Stony Brook on Wednesday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, Stony Brook took a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute on an own goal. A Sacred Heart clearing attempt went off Pioneer defender Stan Zazula into the net.
The tying goal came off a thrown in by senior midfielder Matthew Christiansen even with the goal that DeSousa banged into the net.
In the second overtime in the 103rd minute, the Seawolves had a golden chance to score. Payton Webb had a point blank shot off of a rebound that Sacred Heart defender Cullen Mezerewski headed out to preserve the tie.
Stony Brook, now 0-7-1, outshot the Pioneers in the game 25-11. Dan Ferrin made six saves in the net for the Seawolves. Sacred Heart is now 0-5-1.
