
SACRED HEART FALLS TO BUFFALO, 2-1 AT CENTRAL CONNECTICUT TOURNAMENT

NEW BRITAIN, CT - The University at Buffalo got a pair of first half goals from Geoff Thompson and Mike Peplinski to lead the Bulls to a 2-1 win over Sacred Heart at the Central Connecticut Tournament on Sunday afternoon. Thomspon's goal came at the 32:22 mark and was assisted by Dave Pidgeon and Jason Seymour. Peplinski's goal came just three minutes later when he scored on a penalty kick.
The Pioneer's lone goal came from senior forward Franco Cartiera (New Britain, CT) scored on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute.
Junior goalkeeper Anthony Lombardo (Fairfield, NJ) made five saves in his first appearance of the season
Buffalo outshot the Pioneers 12-7..
Sacred Heart falls to 0-2 to start the 2002 season and will return to action on Tuesday, September 10th, when they travel to Northeast Conference foe Fairleigh Dickinson for a 4 pm match.
