
Men's Hockey Ties Fairfield, 2-2

BRIDGEPORT, CT (January 18, 2003) - The Sacred Heart men's ice hockey team tied Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponent Fairfield University, 3-1. Freshman Erik Roos (Milford, CT) scored his first goal as a Pioneer, short-handed, at 16:42 in the first period.
The Stags opened the scoring just nine minutes into the game with a goal by Steve Calderera, assisted by Hunter Greeley. Roos answered from senior Martin Paquet (Ste. Catherine, QUE).
Sophomore Garrett Larson (Rycroft, AB) netted a power play goal at 7:14 in the second period from junior Marc-Andre Fournier (St. Nicholas, QUE) and Paquet. Fairfield captain Rae Metz netted the equalizer at 12:56 in the second. The third period remained scoreless, as did overtime.
Senior goaltender Eddy Ferhi (Charenton, France) recorded 26 saves. Fairfield goaltender Andrew Martin made 32 saves.
The Pioneers return to action Friday, January 24, as they play host to Iona at the Milford Ice Pavilion at 7:00 pm.
