
Men's Soccer Defeated 3-1 at St. Francis (PA)

LORETTO, PA (October 5, 2003) - The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team was defeated by the score of 3-1 at St. Francis (PA). Aaron Williams scored the game-winning goal on a breakaway in the 58th minute for the Red Flash.
After a scoreless first half Bernie Showers put the Red Flash on the scoreboard in the 51st minute to give Saint Francis a 1-0 lead. Pioneers junior Rui Rainho (Bridgeport, CT) cut the Red Flash lead to 2-1 when he buried a rebound in the 77th minute.
Scott Thompson sealed the win for the Red Flash in the 86th minute as he gave the Red Flash a 3-1 lead.
Saint Francis goalkeeper Bobby Pipech made five saves in recording the win while Sacred Heart sophomore goalkeeper Matt Weston (Mansfield, CT) made eight saves in taking the loss.
The Pioneers will be back in action on October 10 when they host Monmouth at 12:30 PM in an NEC match.
