Final Stats

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ (September 28, 2005) - The Sacred Heart women's tennis team earned their first dual match victory of 2005-06, defeating Monmouth University, 7-0. SHU took two of the three doubles matches to take the point and swept all six singles matches to earn the shutout win.

Senior Lauren Galatie (Monroe, CT) and junior Pam Pillo (Shelton, CT) posted an 8-3 win at #1 doubles over Ashleigh Johnson and Kaitlin Gallagher. The duo also took their singles matches with Galatie winning 6-3, 6-0 at #1 and Pillo winning 6-0, 6-2 at #2.

Freshman Nicole Betz (Long Beach, NY) teamed with sophomore Kristina Frassanito (Little Neck, NY) to win 8-5 over Laura Giuliari and Krista McCormick to give the Pioneers the doubles point. Betz also earned a singles win, 6-2, 6-3 at #4.

Also winning their singles matches were freshman Laura Murillo (Pittsfield, MA) at #3, sophomore Jessica Schnell (Schenetady, NY) at #6 and senior Lissa Von Brecht (Cumberland Foreside, ME) at #5.

The Pioneers are back in action at the Stony Brook Duals on October 7th and 8th.
