EDISON, N.J. - First year Ava Nelson of the Sacred Heart University women's tennis team has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Month, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. 

Nelson collected six total victories in September to kick off her first season at Sacred Heart. She went 2-1 at UCONN (Duals) and added three more wins in singles and doubles at the Army Hidden Duals.

The Pioneers return to action at the 2025 MAAC Masters Tournament, a singles and doubles single-elimination event for both men and women, taking place Friday, October 3 – Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Quinnipiac Athletic & Recreation Center in Hamden, Conn., and Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts in Fairfield, Conn.
