Women's Tennis Cruise Past Holy Cross in Regular Season Finale

WORCESTER, MA — The Sacred Heart women's tennis team earned a dominating 6-1 victory over Holy Cross on Tuesday afternoon in the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility.

The Pioneers started strong in doubles play, securing the doubles point. Ava Nelson and Ola Irla Bartyzel opened with a commanding 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles while Savita Bagirathan and Brooke Tuffs followed with another 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Sacred Heart carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches.

Nelson had an impressive 6-0, 6-1 performance at No. 2 singles while Bagirathan duplicated a 6-1, 6-0 result at No. 3 singles. Kiah James added another point with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 , Kailin Gochna earned a 6-3,6-1 finish at No.5 and Tuffs closed out the scoring for the Pioneers with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles.

The Pioneers will watch MAAC contests across the league this weekend to see if they earn a spot in the MAAC Tournament at the Mercer County Tennis Courts.
