Pioneers Continue Fall Slate at West Point Invitational

SHU Earns Multiple Singles and Doubles Victories at West Point
WEST POINT, N.Y. -Â The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team continued its Fall season this past weekend, competing at the West Point Invitational. The Pioneers competed against host Army, Bucknell University and Metro conference foes Fairfield University, Marist University and Quinnipiac University.
Impressive performances were put forth by junior Kailin Gochna, who went 2-1 in singles play, defeating Fairfield's Lily Malinowski 8-5 Friday afternoon and followed that up with a victory over Marist's Lola Ungerman on Sunday by the score of 8-5. The doubles tandem of sophomores Amelie Gonzales and Brooke Tuffs also went 2-1, posting a pair of 6-2 wins over Bucknell and Army at second doubles for the Pioneers. SHU senior Malena del Olmo and sophomore Ava Nelson also had a pair of victories in doubles over Army at first doubles and Marist at second doubles.
The Pioneers return to the courts this weekend at the Metro Masters Tournament, hosted by Quinnipiac University from Friday through Sunday.
