
Women's Tennis Defeats Fairfield in the Battle of the 203

TRUMBULL, CONN. — The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team earned a 5–2 victory over Fairfield University on April 2 at the Tennis Club of Trumbull, improving to 8–8 overall on the season.
The Pioneers secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The duo of Ola Irla Bartyzel and Olivia Zuba dominated at No. 1 doubles with a 6-0 win while Ava Nelson and Malena del Olmo cruised to a 6–1 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Sacred Heart carried the momentum into singles play, winning four matches to seal the team victory. Bartyzel had a gritty win at No. 1 singles. Nelson had a dominating 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 Singles. Savita Bagirathan earned a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 3, rebounding from a second-set tiebreak loss to defeat Liu 6–2 , 5–7, 6–2.
Zuba added a three-set win at No. 4 Singles to clinch the match, 6–4, 6-7, 6–4, over Harris.
The Pioneers will continue MAAC Play when they face Rider in Lawrenceville, New Jersey on April 4th at 11:00 AM.
