KINGSTON, R.I. – The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team closed out its Fall season in style at the University of Rhode Island Invitational this past weekend, winning 16 of 21 total matches in the "hidden duals" format event. The Pioneers faced off against Bryant University and Providence College in a series of competitive matchups that capped an impressive Fall campaign.
First-year Savita Bagirathan led the charge with a flawless 4-0 weekend, earning victories in both doubles matches and posting straight-set singles wins over Bryant's Mila Martinez (6-3, 6-2) and Providence's Flora Eidson (6-1, 6-0). Fellow first-years Ava Nelson and sophomores Olivia Zuba and Kiah James also delivered strong performances, each finishing with a 3-1 mark across singles and doubles play.
The Pioneers will return to action in 2026 when they open their Spring season on January 23rd at Army.
