The Sacred Heart women's tennis team did not drop a set en route to sweeping Monmouth, 7-0, Thursday afternoon at the SHU tennis courts. The win improves the Pioneers dual match record to 2-0 this fall.
The most competitive match came at the number two slot where Ashley Amalfe (Clark, NJ) and Julianne Kasinow (Wall, NJ) came away 8-4 winners over Monmouth's Katie Tierry and Diane Washer. Darcy Demers (Norton, MA) and Nicole Betz (Long Beach, NY) won their number one doubles match 8-2 while Mandy Finkelstein (Portland, CT) and Britany Price (Meriden, CT) completed the sweep of the doubles point with a 8-0 decision.
In singles action, Kasinow won her number one match 6-3, 6-1. Demers took the second singles 6-2, 6-0 while Betz and Elizabeth Harrington (Westerly, RI) each won their matches 6-2, 6-1. Jessica Schnell (Schencectady, NY) took the number five singles match 6-3, 6-2 and Finkelstein completed the sweep for SHU by a 6-1, 6-1 score.
The Pioneers are back in action October 9th when they visit Manhattan for a dual match beginning at 3:00 pm.
