WEST POINT, N.Y. — The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team was defeated by Villanova, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon in a neutral-site match at Army.
Villanova grabbed the early advantage winning at #2 and #3 doubles The duo of
Kiah James and
Olivia Zuba dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 2 doubles, while
Kailin Gochna and
Malena del Olmo were also defeated 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Villanova secured straight-set wins to clinch the match. At No. 3 singles,
Savita Bagirathan fell 6-1, 6-1. The Wildcats extended their lead at No. 4 singles, where
Olivia Zuba was defeated 6-3, 6-2.
The match was decided at No. 6 singles as
Malena del Olmo dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision. At No. 1 singles,
Ola Irla Bartyzel won the first set before the match being halted. The Pioneers return to West
Point tomorrow to face Army. First serve is scheduled for 3:00
