Final Stats

Rochester, NY - Isabelle Richard tallied two goals and two assists and Amanda Klassen had a goal and two assists to lead RIT to a 6-2 win over Sacred Heart in women's ice hockey action Friday night at Ritter Arena.

The Tigers got on the board 3:12 into the game as Klassen scooped up a rebound off a shot from Maegan Geypens in front of the Pioneers net and slammed it home for her 11th goal of the year. Richard also assisted on the goal.

A little over two minutes later, Katie Stack blocked a clearing attempt at her own blue line, hustled up the ice, around a pair of Sacred Heart defensemen and put a low shot just inside the right post past SHU netminder Sarah Perry (Sudbury, MA) for a 2-0 Tiger lead.

Sophomore Kate Dunlop (Flesherton, ON) cut the RIT lead in half 9:18 into the period, as she slipped a rebound off a shot from Jaclyn Rideout (Wilmington, MA) past Tiger goalie Sandra Grant.

RIT made it 3-1 with 7:54 left in the frame while shorthanded, as Sarah Dagg made a tremendous individual effort, out-skating two Pioneers to a loose puck and poking a shot towards Perry. Perry made the initial save but could not handle the rebound. Dagg kept moving and poked the puck into the open net for her sixth tally if the season.

Richard and Klassen worked the give-and-go to perfection for RIT's fourth goal. As Richard fed Klassen and went to the net while the teams were skating 4-on-4. Klassen hit Richard perfectly in front and Richard buried her eighth tally of the year to give RIT a 4-1 lead.

Geypens gave RIT a 5-1 lead with 3:45 left in the second period, flipping a high shot from the slot past Perry for her fourth goal of the season.

Dunlop got her second of the game two minutes later on the power-play, putting in a rebound off a shot from Rideout.

Richard completed the scoring late in the third, shorthanded, converting a feed from Jerica Young.

RIT out-shot Sacred Heart 36-33. Perry made 30 saves for the Pioneers while Grant stopped 31 shots to earn the victory.

Sacred Heart and RIT close out their series Saturday at Ritter Arena. Face-off is set for 2:00 pm.
