Women's Hockey Drops Second Straight to RIT, 3-1

Rochester, NY - Katie Stack scored a goal and added an assist to lead the RIT women's ice hockey team to a 3-1 win over Sacred Heart Saturday afternoon at Ritter Arena.

Sophomore net-minder Karen Quigley made 19 saves to pick up her second win of the season for the Tigers while senior Sarah Perry (Sudbury, MA) stopped 45 shots for the Pioneers.

Dagg scored the lone goal of the first period, With 7:1l left, she ripped a shot from the slot over the glove of Perry. The goal was Stack's seventh of the season. RIT had several other good chances in the opening period, but Perry came up with a handful of good saves.

Both teams tallied in the second period, as RIT held a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes of play. Right around the midway mark of the period, Stack took a feed from Maegan Geypens in the slot on an odd-man rush and slipped a low shot against the grain past Perry for her seventh tally of the season.

Sophomore Kate Dunlop (Flesherton, ON) scored her third goal of the weekend and sixth of the season with 4:32 left in the frame to cut the Tiger lead to 2-1. RIT could not clear the zone, as Jaclyn Rideout (Wilmington, MA) took a shot that Quigley stopped. The rebound came out to Dunlop in the slot and she put a high shot off Quigley and in.

Wilson's shot caromed off a handful of bodies in front to give RIT a 3-1 lead early in the third period. The goal was Wilson's first of the season.

The Tigers out-shot Sacred Heart 48-20. Sacred Heart was 0-for-5 on the power-play, while RIT was 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

Sacred Heart returns home to face Trinity Friday night. Face-off at the Wonderland of Ice is set for 7:00 pm.
