The SHU cheerleaders recently attended the community-wide "Paint the Town Pink" campaign in Westport, CT and participated in a walk to support breast cancer research at Sherwood Island State Park.
Each member of the cheerleading team made a donation to the cause and made their way along the 3.5 mile course with the 7,000 participants of the largely successful event. The American Cancer raised just under $290,000 dollars for breast cancer research and to promote the importance of early detection.
Assistant cheer coach Deborah Fressola commented on the successful event, "Part of our cheerleading philosophy here at Sacred Heart is to emphasize community service. We feel that it is very important for our girls to get involved in great causes and the support of this event is certainly one of them."
