
Men's Soccer Ranked 2nd in NSCAA North Atlantic Region, Receive Votes Nationally

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team
has raced out to a 4-0-0 start and has reached its highest regional
ranking, second in the NSCAA/Hendrickcars.com North Atlantic
Region, in program history. The Pioneers also received two
votes in the NSCAA/Hendrickcars.com National Rankings, a first in
program history.
Last week, Sacred Heart defeated Siena, in double overtime, 2-1 at
home followed by a 2-1 overtime victory at Adelphi.
Sophomore defender Marcello Castro (Panana, Brazil) leads SHU in
scoring with three goals and an assist for seven total
points. In action last week, he recorded a goal in each win
for the Pioneers. Sacred Heart goalkeeper Alex Fait (Ottawa,
Ont.) combined for 13 saves in the two wins and owns a 0.71 goals
against average and a .857 save percentage.
Northeast Conference opponent Monmouth, also 4-0-0, currently
ranks first in the North Atlantic Region and sits fifth in the
national poll. The Pioneers take on the Hawks in New Jersey
on Sunday October 10 at 1:00 pm.
