Sacred Heart Men's Soccer Beats Mount St. Mary's 1-0 on Francolini's Goal

(Fairfield, CT) – The Sacred Heart University Men's Soccer team used a goal from junior Brian Francolini (Ellington, CT) to deal visiting Mount St. Mary's a 1-0 defeat in Northeast Conference play Friday night.  The Pioneers raised their NEC mark to 2-1-2 on the year with the win.

Francolini stole the ball from the Mountaineer goalkeeper Peter Steve following a shot by Omer Levy (Yahud, Israel) in the 32nd minute and buried the rebound.

Alex Fait (Ottawa, ON) need to make only one save, as the Pioneers controlled the majority of the game in front of a home crowd made up of several alumni in for SHU Men's Soccer Alumni weekend.  Steve was tested much more, making six saves on seven SHU shots

The Pioneers held a 9-4 advantage on shots in the win. 

Sacred Heart hosts Monmouth in an NEC matchup Sunday at 1 p.m. at Campus Field.  The Pioneers tied the Hawks in each of the past two years when they were nationally ranked.
