WINTER PARK, FL - The Sacred Heart women's tennis team closed out their 2011 Spring Break trip with a 4-3 win over Seton Hall. The Pioneers match with St. John's was postponned due to weather and will be made up later this spring. Sacred Heart returns north riding a five-match winning streak and an 8-1 dual match record.
The Pioneers won the all important double point with wins at #1 and #2. Freshman Gabi Kaldan (New Brunswick, NJ) and senior Darcy Demers (Norton, MA) won 8-5 over Pui Wing Sher and Belfin Sunbul at #1. Senior Elizabeth Harrington (Westerly, RI) and junior Kristina Chao (Needham, MA) won at #2 8-4 over Elizabeth Verow and Courtney Kilarski.
Demers and Chao notches singles wins in the #4 and #5 spots. Demers beat Kilarski 7-5, 6-2 while Chao won 6-2, 6-1 over Slavina Kaplanska.
Sacred Heart is back in action on March 19th traveling to Albany.
