Box Score (Fairfield, CT) – Justin Brewer scored a goal and had an assist, and Alex Danais (South Windsor, CT) scored what proved to be the game-winner in the second half of a 2-1 win for the Sacred Heart University Men's Soccer team over NJIT Saturday night at Campus Field.
Brewer scored the game's first goal in the 20th minute, taking a lead pass from Brian Francolini (Ellington, CT) and nailing a shot under the crossbar from about 25 yards out. Brewer later would set up SHU's second goal with a pass then sent Danais streaking down the left side for a goal inside the far post to make it 2-0 in the 52nd minute.
The Highlanders got on the board in the 73rd minute, when Emeka Nwachukwu scored off a long cross from the left by Trevor Nye that sent him for a one-on-one opportunity against SHU goalie Alex Fait (Ottawa, ON). It was only the second shot on goal of the game for NJIT, the other one being a free kick from Luis Granizo that Fait saved.
The Pioneers improve to 4-2 with the win, and host Hartford Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
