Pios To Host Siena In MAAC Final

Sacred Heart will play in its fist ever MAAC championship game

FAIRFIELD, CONN- The Sacred Heart Men's Soccer Team will make program history this weekend as they will host their first-ever Metro Altantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship Game on Sunday, November 16th at Park Ave Field. Kickoff is set for 12pm.  

Last Game
  • The Pioneers recorded a 4-3 OT win against rival Fairfield on Thursday evening at Park Ave Field.
  • Sacred Heart started strong in the first half, out-shooting the Stags 8-to-2 and 5-to-0 on goal. SHU held possession for the majority of the opening 45 minutes being 1-0.
  • The Stags adjusted going into the second half as the teams saw more equal play.
  • Keeper Luca Marinelli allowed three goals and had four saves
On Siena 
  • The No. 2 Saints claimed a semifinal home match with a 2-1 OT win over #3 Iona on Thursday afternoon. Siena has secured a 8-5-4, 6-1-3 MAAC record. Two Saints secured goals on Thursday, including Campbell Stalker and Lucas Almeida.
  • Almeida leads the Saints with 23 points and nine goals  The junior secured All-MAAC First Team on Monday, November 10.
  • Campbell Stalker has also been a strong offensive player for the Saints, with 12 points, tabbing five goals and two assists.
  • Junior goalkeeper Bennet Glinder secured All-MAAC Academic Team this season. The Germany native has started 17 of 17 games, recording 59 saves, 1.33 GAA, and a 0.728 save percentage.
All-Time Series
  • The Pios faced Siena for the first time in conference this season on Oct. 11, 2025.
  • SHU drew 1-1 to the Saints at Hickey Field in that match.
How Did We Get Here? 
  • The 2025 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship is a six-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 9-16. Each match during the championship will be hosted by the higher seed and all rounds will reseed.
  • As a result of Saturday, November 1st win at Rider, the Pioneers were named the MAAC regular season champions for the first time in program history and named the #1 seed in the championship tournament. On Thursday, November 13th the Pios defeated the Fairfield University Stags 4-3 in OT to advance to the championship final.
