Box Score PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 29, 2013) - The Sacred Heart field hockey team dropped its second-straight game to a nationally ranked opponent thanks to a 3-0 loss at #17 Temple Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers have lost four-straight and saw their record drop to 3-6 on the season.
The Owls, who raised their record to 8-2 on the season, out shot the Pioneers 25-3 in the win. Temple's Lauren Hunt scored a pair of goals while Katie Foran notched the other marker and also picked up an assist.
Temple opened the game with a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes of action. Foran opened the scoring in the seventh minute, converting on a penalty corner from a feed off the stick of Molly Doyle. Hunt tacked on her first of two at 8:46, catching SHU goalkeeper Mary Altepeter (Chesterfield, MO) out of position and scoring from the right.
Hunt closed out the scoring in the 36th minute, scoring an unassisted goal off a blocked shot.
Altepeter finished the game with 13 saves. SHU also got a defensive save from senior Stephanie Frye (Walpole, MA).
The Pioneers are back at home next weekend for a pair of games, hosting Lehigh Friday night and Lock Haven on Sunday afternoon.
