CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team opened its 2015 spring season with a, 7-0, loss at ACC foe Boston College on Saturday afternoon. Matt Dean came closest to earning a point for SHU, losing his second singles match in three sets. The Pioneers, who did not play a dual match in the fall, fall to 0-1.
Dean got swept in the first set of his singles match before rallying to take the second set in a tiebreak. Ultimately, BC's McNutty would prevail to earn the point with a victory in the final set, 6-3. Also battling tough in a singles match was Justin Pagan, who fell in first singles 6-4, 7-5.
Francisco Del Valle Diaz, competing in his first career dual match, was defeated at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-3. Karan Narula also managed to win six games, losing, 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles, Pagan teamed with Cory Seltman at third doubles to win the most games of any Pioneer tandem, 3. Dean and Del Valle Diaz took two games at first doubles.
SHU will play in the Boston area again tomorrow, this time at Boston University for a 10 am start
