Pioneers Force Eight Turnovers In 26-13 Win At Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Sacred Heart football team forced eight turnovers Saturday at Joe Walton Stadium as the Pioneers opened Northeast Conference play with a 26-13 victory against the Robert Morris Colonials.
Sacred Heart (3-2, 1-0 NEC) recovered four fumbles and had four interceptions on the day. It was the most turnovers forced by the Pioneers since recording six in a 16-0 shutout victory at Bucknell on September 28, 2013. Senior linebacker James Rentz had a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, an interception, and a sack to go with six tackles Saturday. CJ Parvelus, Alec Finelli, and TaMaric Wilson each had an interception. Defensively, Sacred Heart held Robert Morris to 169 yards of total offense and minus-seven yards rushing.
Quarterback RJ Noel was 21-for-40 passing for 22 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for a touchdown. Tyler Dube caught four passes for 67 yards while Andrew O'Neill had a career-high seven receptions for 42 yards. Ose Imeokparia had 56 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Sacred Heart hosts Cornell for homecoming at Campus Field next Saturday at 1 p.m.
FIRST QUARTER
0:34 to play – SHU 7, RMU 0; Noel throws a 36-yard touchdown pass to Jalyn Croom to put the Pioneers on the board. A Colonials penalty on 4th-and-2 extended the Sacred Heart drive.
- The Pioneers forced two fumbles in the quarter and recovered both of them.
7:06 to play – SHU 14, RMU 0; A 30-yard punt return by Dube put Sacred Heart at the Colonials' 13 yardline. Six plays later, Imeokparia punches in a one-yard rush for Sacred Heart's second touchdown.
4:43 to play – SHU 14, RMU 6; Jimmy Masson returns an interception of a tipped pass 49 yards for a Robert Morris touchdown. Kicker Connor Shennan missed the extra point.
0:18 to play – SHU 20, RMU 6; Rentz's interception gave SHU the football at the RMU 42 yardline. The Pioneers scored on four plays with Noel scoring on a six-yard rush.
THIRD QUARTER
14:46 to play – SHU 20, RMU 13; The Colonials' Dante Satcher returns the second-half kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.
0:42 to play – SHU 23, RMU 13; Alec Finney makes a 25-yard field goal after an Alec Finelli interception gave the Pioneers the football at the RMU 16.
FOURTH QUARTER
13:18 to play – SHU 26, RMU 13; Rentz forced a fumble on the Colonials' previous possession that was recovered by Phil Sampson. After going three plays and out, Finney makes a 35-yard field goal.
- Wilson and Parvelus each had an interception in the fourth quarter.
NOTES
- Croom's touchdown reception was his first career reception.
- The Pioneers had the ball for 37:28, more than 15 minutes more than Robert Morris
- RJ Noel had his 12th-career 200-plus yard passing game. SHU is 9-3 when Noel throws for over 200 yards.
