Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart football team completed nonconference play with a 31-6 victory over Cornell in front of 4,551 at Campus Field on Saturday afternoon. Already at 1-0 in Northeast Conference play, the Pioneers will head into a five-week stretch of NEC football at 4-2 overall.
Tyler Dube had the second highest receiving yardage total in school history, finishing seven yards shy of a school record with 202 yards. In addition to an 80-yard touchdown catch, the senior captain also threw a one-yard touchdown to Connor Caveney to put SHU up 10-0 in the second quarter. R.J Noel was 15-22 on the day with 270 yards passing and the 80-yard touchdown, while Nate Chavious and Ose Imeokparia ran for 76 and 65 yards, respectively.
The Sacred Heart defense held the Big Red to 280 yards of total offense, with only 66 net yards of rushing. The Pioneers recorded 11 tackles for loss, with five sacks. Connor Candito made 3.5 TFL, while James Rentz and Delvon Artis both had 2.5 TFL's.
The Pioneers will host in-state rival Central Connecticut State for Family Weekend next Saturday at 1 pm. The Blue Devils dropped to 2-5 today after a 34-7 defeat against Dartmouth this afternoon.
First Quarter
12:05 - After forcing a Cornell three and out on the first drive of the game, a kick catch interference would set up Sacred Heart in field good position at their own 48 yard line and the Pioneers would capitalize with a 35 yard Alec Finney field goal.
00:49 – The Big Red put together a 14 play, 53-yard drive over 7:36, but were unable to put point son the board as a 35-yard field goal attempt missed wide left.
Second Quarter
13:29 – Sacred Heart finished a 53-yard drive with a one-yard strike from a wide receiver, Dube, to defensive end, Cavaney, giving SHU a 10-0 advantage
11:00 – Cornell struck quickly, with a three-yard TD run by Josh Sweet, but the PAT failed, for a 10-6 score.
3:31 – Moses Webb gave SHU at 17-6 lead with a catch with 3:31 to play in the first-half, with a seven-yard reception from Tyler Dube
Third Quarter
5:26 – Nate Chavious scampered in from 12-yards out, capping a 14-play, 80-yard drive, to give SHU a 24-6 advantage. The touchdown was setup two plays earlier on 3rd and six by a pass that got knocked away from the intended receiver and ended up in Webb's hands for an eight yard reception and a drive extending first down.

13:46 – Dube wrapped up the scoring with an 80-yard reception
