Box Score BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart men's soccer team lost 3-0 to the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers Sunday afternoon at Brooklyn Bridge Park – Pier 5.
St. Francis Brooklyn (10-2-3, 3-1-1 NEC) took a 1-0 lead at halftime on a goal by Sal Barone in the 40th minute. The Terriers extended their lead to 2-0 in the 62nd minute when Cyril Coisne converted a penalty kick. Eight minutes later, Coisne started a counterattack that Vincent Bezecourt finished with a chipshot over Tucker Hackett to make the score 3-0. Sacred Heart (1-10-1) had three shots on goal in the second half but couldn't get one past Terriers goalkeeper Jack Binks.
The Pioneers return to Campus Field on Friday, October 30 for a 3 p.m. game against LIU Brooklyn.
FIRST HALF
- The Pioneers had the first shot of the game when Kieran Walsh put a shot over the goal in the 16th minute.
- Hackett made his first save in the 28th minute, stopping a shot from Bezecourt.
- Bezecourt hit the crossbar in the 42nd minute.
- Sacred Heart was outshot 6-1 in the first half.
SECOND HALF
- Ezra Siyadhuba recorded the Pioneers' first shot on goal of the game in the 48th minute.
- Both teams had a player sent off in the second half. St. Francis Brooklyn's Adrian Cosovic was shown a red card in the 53rd minute and SHU's Chris McCormick got the same in the 61st minute.
- Murray Cockburn nearly got the Pioneers within one in the 67th minute, but Binks stopped his shot.
- Andrew Bregna also had a shot on goal in the 77th minute.
