
Pioneers Fall 3-0 At Robert Morris In NEC Opener

MOON TOWNSHIP, Penn. – The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team dropped its Northeast Conference opener, 3-0, to host Robert Morris University Friday afternoon. The Pioneers fall to 1-5-0 overall and 0-1-0 in league play, while the Colonials improve to 7-5-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in NEC action.
The teams played scorleslly for the first 42 minutes until Neco Brett scored a 30-yard free kick into the upper 90 to give RMU a 1-0 advantage. Jake Cooper headed in a corner kick 2:06 later to give the Colonials a 2-0 lead at the break.
SHU controlled play in the second-half, racking up a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks and a 13-12 edge in total shots. RMU added an insurance goal with 6:09 to play in the game on a goal from Keane McIvor.
The Pioneers continue their swing through Western Pennsylvania on Sunday when they play at Saint Francis University.
