Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men's soccer team lost its final non-conference game of the 2015 season Wednesday, falling to the NJIT Highlanders 1-0 at Campus Field.
NJIT's (5-8-4) lone goal came in the 11th minute. Samuel Jester headed in a cross from Phillip Costa from close range to make the score 1-0. Sacred Heart (1-12-1) outshot the Highlanders 12-8 in the first half and 22-13 for the game. The Highlanders' Christian Faust made seven saves for the clean sheet, while Tucker Hackett had four saves for the Pioneers.
Sacred Heart closes the 2015 season against Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday, November 8 at Campus Field at 1 p.m.
FIRST HALF
- Murray Cockburn put a shot on goal 50 seconds into the game.
- Hackett made his first save in the eighth minute on a Phillip Costa shot.
- Mahmoud Kafel and Kieran Walsh each had a shot saved in the 18th and 20th minutes respectively.
- Shaquille Saunchez had a shot cleared off the goal line in the 40th minute.
SECOND HALF
- NJIT's Tommy Osipitan hit the crossbar in the 46th minute.
- Kafel put a shot wide with Faust off his line in the 66th minute.
- Saunchez had a shot saved in the 50th minute. He also put a shot over the goal in the 69th minute.
