Gabrielle Washington tallied a season-best before the halftime buzzer and continued to be a strong offensive presence in throughout the game leading all-players with 29 points in the Sacred Heart women's basketball team's 71-64 overtime victory over Mount St. Mary's Saturday afternoon on Coach Bike Court in the William H. Pitt Center. Hannah Kimmel recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds as the Pioneers even their record at 9-9 and 4-4 in Northeast Conference play. The loss drops the Mountaineers to 7-13 on the season and 5-4 against conference opponents.
Washington is Red Hot...
It seemed like senior Gabrielle Washington couldn't miss in the first half of Saturday's overtime win over Mount St. Mary's. Washington accounted for all eight of the Pioneers' points in the opening four minutes of the game as Sacred Heart jumped out to an early 8-2 lead. The senior was the driving force behind SHU's offense in the first half owning 15 points in the first eight minutes. At the end of the half, it was Washingto 25, Mount St. Mary's 23.
Hannah's Seeing Double...
Hannah Kimmel recorded her sixth double-double of the season on Saturday. The Pioneers' leading rebounder added 13 boards to her yearly total while putting 13 points on the scoreboard for Sacred Heart.
