Inside the Series...
- This is the 30th meeting between the Pioneers and the Colonials
- Earlier this season, the Colonials downed Sacred Heart in Moon Township 76-65 leading from the getgo
- All meetings have come as Northeast Conference rivals
- SHU has battled Robert Morris in the NEC Tournament four times, winning twice and losing twice
- The Pioneers lost the NEC Championship to the Colonials in 2007 by just two points, 68-66
Scouting the Colonials...
- Robert Morris, after its 69-66 loss to Bryant, currently sits in a three-way tie with Bryant and Central Conn. State for first place in the NEC
- The Colonials are led by sophomores Anna Nikki Stamolamprou and Megan Smith who average 15.4 and 9.5 points per game respectively
- RMU entered Northeast Conference play after a 2-9 non-conference slate
- Since Sal Buscaglia took over the Robert Morris women's basketball program 12 years ago, it has played in six national tournaments, won three Northeast Conference championships and earned playoff berths in nine of his 11 seasons.
Last Time They Met...
Hannah Kimmel recorded her fifth double double in seven games, recording game-highs with 23 points and 12 rebounds, but the Sacred Heart University women's basketball team could not overcome 36.2 percent (27-74) shooting as it fell to Robert Morris, 76-65, on Monday afternoon at the Charles L. Sewall Center. With a season-high 12 points, Katherine Haines was the only other Pioneer to score in double figures for SHU, who falls to an even 8-8 overall and 3-3 in Northeast Conference play. Balanced scoring paced RMU, as Anna Stamolamprou and Rebecca Navarro each scored 14 while Ashley Ravelli added 12.
Sweet 16...
Despite Sacred Heart losing to Central Connecticut State on Saturday, losses for Wagner and Saint Francis U gave SHU the bump it needed to clinch a spot in the 2015 Northeast Conference Championship. The Pioneers have been in the tournament every year since joinging the league making this the sixteenth consecutive time SHU has a chance at a title. Sacred Heart had never finished lower than tied for third going into the tournament the first fourteen season, and made it last year as the six seed. The Pioneers are currently in fourth place in the NEC. If they hold onto that position, SHU will host a quarterfinal home game.
Halting a Streak...
Prior to Saturday's loss to Central Connecticut State, Hannah Kimmel had hit at least one triple in 15 straight games dating back to December 17's loss to Siena.
Mannetti Against Robert Morris...
Head Coach Jessica Mannetti has led the Pioneers to a 2-1 record against the Colonials since taking over the Sacred Heart women's basketball team prior to the 2013-14 season. Last season SHU and RMU split the regular season, each getting a win on their respective home courts, and earlier this season the Pioneers fell on the road 76-65 in Moon Township.
